hydroelectricity, in a new way

A town by the name Vandergrift, in Pennsylvania, is planning on using the Kiskiminetas River to generate 20% to 40% of the city’s electricity. But they’re not building a dam. They’re building something that, “wouldn’t look that different from seaweed.”

This “seaweed” will actually be little strips of plastic, that, when moved [by the flowing river], create an electrical current. Clever, huh?!
