Backpacking Gear

In July I’ll be doing a three-day backpacking trip, and I need[ed] some necessary equipment. That is- a proper backpack and shoes.

I came across this backpack, which I am very excited about. It is called Ivy Recycled and is made by Mountainsmith.

So why this backpack?

100% recycled PET fabric and webbing. A classic alpine style, designed specifically for a woman’s frame, and updated with today’s best materials and technology.” (taken from its eBags page)

PET is an abbreviation for polyethylene terephthalate, a type of plastic. (If you’re interested, here is its Wikipedia article.)

And, sure enough, here is the main image that dons the homepage of Mountainsmith.com :

And now for the shoes!

They’re called Kiowa by Garmont.

They aren’t recycled, but they are vegan, when all the other hiking boots I looked at were suede and leather!

:)
