Yup. Workers at a LUSH store, which makes “Fresh Handmade Cosmetics”, went naked to raise awareness about the waste of extra packaging on products. You know, like when all you buy is a little lip gloss, but for some reason it’s surrounded by a huge square of colorful paper.

A town by the name Vandergrift, in Pennsylvania, is planning on using the Kiskiminetas River to generate 20% to 40% of the city’s electricity. But they’re not building a dam. They’re building something that, “wouldn’t look that different from seaweed.”

An Italian architect named David Fisher is building an 80-story moving skyscraper in Dubai that will power itself through the wind energy created by its rotations! Here is a video of the architect himself explaining his “Dynamic Tower” and animations of what it’ll look like. (I tried to embed it, but BBC has made it impossible to. It even says “Embedding disabled by request” in the corner of the dark gray box.)

I just saw this cutely animated, disturbing, and very educational 20-minute film/ video called The Story of Stuff. It explains the linearity of the production of… stuff. And how we can’t make things in a linear way when we live on a planet with finite resources. We need a cycle .

So, I’ve been neglecting my Trash Diary once more. =/
I’m just getting so caught up in other things… work, friends, family, the summer, the usual craziness of life, etc.
But I’m getting back on track, so… grieve no more! Trash Diary has not been left alone to rot in the depths of the World Wide Web!

I just bought a new composition notebook, and I was very pleased to find one that was made of 100% recycled material. It’s made by a company (?) called Environotes. And that’s all I can really say about it… I can’t seem to find a website that belongs to Environotes, just a lot of college stores selling their stuff.

My town’s “recycling” program is more like a “lets-just-pretend-we-recycle-and-throw-away-everything-that-isn’t-a-plastic-bottle” program.
